Simon Knight Architects are pleased to have gained planning approval first time for significant extensions to a detached property on Charmouth Road in St Albans. The bespoke designs provide a new open-plan living space at ground floor, with separate study facing the garden and utility room accessed from the side alleyway. A new double gable frontage, with double side extension, creates more street presence along with a new front lounge and master bedroom suite above. A new loft space gives an additional den for the children.
The brick extension is borne from the existing brick base to the house and offers a warm and textured addition to the back of the property. Minimalist sliding doors connect the living room to the garden and vice versa. Bespoke joinery elements hide discreet access to the secondary rooms off the main living space and provide well needed storage.
