PIMLICO

Clarendon Street
Home Extension

We were commissioned by our client to reconnect an existing decaying basement flat to the original Georgian Thomas Cubitt townhouse above.  The property sits within the Pimlico Conservation Area and was therefore subject to stricter planning policy.

The Client had very little existing outdoor amenity space and therefore the main driver of the project was to better utilise the basement courtyard.  We proposed opening up the rear of the property with a glazed corner to help bring the outdoor in and connect with the courtyard.  A large rooflight helps bring light in and gives the modest space a feeling of height.

We reinstated the staircase with a bespoke joinery element and converted the disused vaults into a utility and shower room.  The new spaces are now filled with light and better utilise the precious outdoor courtyard.
